Beading Books - General
Quick & Easy Crafts - Beadwork
Quick & Easy Crafts - Beadwork is one of a set of four quick and easy craft books, we obviously stock the Beadwork copy! Like most beading books there is a small section on materials and tools at the beginning and then a tips and techniques section covering all the beading methods used throughout the book. There are 15 projects in this book ranging from very easy to an intermeadiate level. There is a colour picture for each of the easy to follow step by step instructions and an alternative colour style for the finished piece. This book is a good choice for beginners and maybe for those who have done everything they can with the basics. This book will gently push you to the next level without influencing you too much into going into one area of beading or another. This is a project led book rather than a technique led book. Although this will teach you basic and intermeadiate beading skills it doesn't concentrate on one particular area like beadweaving or wire work. The projects covered in this book involve stretch magic, knotting pearls, wirework earrings using semi-precious beads, beadloom, peyote stitch and a couple of simple beadweaving projects that do not use any particular stitch. The hardback is no longer available. We only have the soft cover versions available

Totally Beads is a book separated into three areas; Necklaces, Bracelets & Anklets and Hair Ornaments. Like most beading books there is a small section on materials and tools at the beginning and then a tips and techniques section. The first part of the book covers Necklaces where the handdrawn colour pictures compliment the easy to follow step by step instructions. There are colour pictures showing the finish project and there are also alternatives for the reader to consider. The majority of the projects follow fairly simple beadweaving patterns but not stitches. The Bracelet and Anklets section again use some simple beadweaving that produce some excellent results. Nothing too complicated or time consuming. The Hair Ornaments Section still keeps with simple beadweaving but this time you are attaching the design to either hair clips or hair pins.
This book is ideal for those who want to do more than just simple stringing of beads but do not want to go into any particular beadweaving stitch. The end results of the projects are very impressive. I found this book easy to follow and very enjoyable to use. The weaving done in any section can be used to make any number of items, whether a necklace, bracelet, anklet or hair accessory. This is a soft cover book and can be a bit tricky to keep open when working from it.
Beadalon's - Sensational Bead Stringing Beadalon has produced a book which features their very popular wire Beadalon 19 and 49 Strand Cables. Both types of jewellery thread is very flexible and the 49 strand is knottable.
Over 150 colour photos guide you through 40 Stringing projects using either 19 or 49 strand cable (although 7 strand will work just as well in a lot of the projects).
If you have never used a wire cable thread to string your beads then this 30 page, full colour booklet will over all questions and concerns you may have using this product. There is a Basic Tips and Techniques section and an article on tools.
Some nice designs that will fuel your imagination and help you work out how certain necklaces are made, my favorite is the teardrop necklace that has 4 prongs!
