Threads for beadstringing
There are several types of thread available for stringing a number of different projects. The best advice we can give is to experiment with each type of thread to gain confidence in making jewellery. You will find that you have a favourite thread that you'll like to use time and time again. There are no good or bad threads, it all depends on which project you are attemping. The general rule is that your beads will dictate which thread you use and the thread will dictate which findings and clasps you'll use to finish your project.

Carded Nylon Beadstring
Carded Nylon Beadstring is ideal for threading beads, including semi-precious beads as it is non-stretch and can be knotted easily between beads. This thread will hang loosely and not try to form it's own shape.
We sell size 4 thread which is approximately 0.6mm diameter and comes on 20 metre (22 yard) cards.
The colours in the picture from left to right are:
Row 1; White, Natural, Orange, Red, Pink and Lilac.
Row 2; Purple, Blue, Turquoise, Green, Brown and Black.
We are currently out of stock of Pink and Lilac . Due end Sept 2008.
Getting stocks of these are proving to be difficult!
Griffin High Performance Bead Cord
Griffin High Performance Bead Cord is extremely strong, non-stretch, smooth thread. It comes with a pre-strung flexible beading needle to save threading time. The cord knots easily and is ideal for threading pearls. It is 0.5mm in diameter, there is 2 metres on a card. We only have the white colour so far.
Supplemax
Supplemax is a clear nylon thread which replaces our old monofilament thread. Both products are virtually the same. Supplemax is a little more flexible but is stronger than monofilament, especially the 0.6mm diameter. This material is ideal for creating the floating or illusion necklace with the use of crimps or glue. We recommend using crimps to secure Supplemax to your findings.
Supplemax is available in four different diameters, 0.15mm, 0.30mm, 0.25mm and 0.60mm and each are on 50 metre reels.
Stretch Magic
Stretch Magic is a strong plastic elastic; it dosen't fray like fabric elastics. The 0.5mm diameter is thin enough to thread through tiny beads including delicas, the 0.7 & 1.0mm are ideal for larger beads. Finish with at least three knots (a dab of glue is also a good idea) or the ends can be crimped, we reccomend tubular crimps as they have smoother edges.
We have a range of 25m & 100m reels in 0.5mm and 0.7mm & 1mm diameters in clear & black.
We only recommend Stetch Magic to be used in making bracelets. The amount of stretching you need to do to get the stretch magic over your head for necklaces, will over stretch this elastic and it will not return to the original length.
Stretch Magic - 25 metre reels
We have 25 metre reels of 0.5mm, 0.7mm & 1.0mm in clear and black.
Stretch Magic - 100 metre reels
We have 100 metre reels of 0.5mm, 0.7mm & 1.0mm in clear and black.
