Crimp beads and Crimp tubes are used to connect clasps to thin thread such as Beadalon, Softflex and Supplemax (monofilament) thread. Generally any threads where you cannot tie knots. Crimps are also used on spacer necklaces (there is an example of this on our 'How to Leaflet'), where the crimp beads are crushed either side of a bead so it does not move. Crimp beads and tubes have also been known to be used as spacers.
Then again you can use crimp beads just like any other normal bead. The only difference is the internal diameter of the crimp will restrict which threads and wire you can thread them on to!

Crimps are primarily used at the end of necklaces/bracelets to create a loop by threading back through the crimp and then crushing or crushed at the ends of necklaces after necklace ends with threads that won't knot easily e.g. tigertail or monofilament. Crimps are also used to create floating necklaces by holding beads separately on the thread, a crimp bead is crushed either side of the bead. Or use them as spacer beads!

Size 3 - (Internal diameter of 1.5mm)
As with all of the other tubular crimps, these are the third largest tubular crimp we have. They crimp neatly with hardly any chance of getting it wrong. Using chainnose or flatnose pliers these crips will crimp to a flat rectangular shape. If you use crimping pliers you can achieve a much smaller result!
These crimps are available in silver plated or gold plated.
Size 3 crimps have approx. 70 crimps per pack.

Size 4 - (Internal diameter of 2.0mm)
These are the largest crimps tubes and have an outside diameter of 2.5mm. The internal diameter (or the thickest thread you can use) with this crimp tube is 2.0mm). These crimp tubes are much better quality and are nicer to use than the crimp beads as they have smooth edges and do not twist when crushed but produce a smart flat rectangle.
These crimps are available in silver plated or gold plated.
Size 4 crimps have approx. 38 crimps per pack.
