- Description
0.4mm, 26 gauge, gold filled wire. This wire is half hard so will hold it's shape under tension, sold on half ounce (14g) reels containing approximately 11.5 metres.
Gold filled is also known as rolled gold and refers to a layer of 14 karat gold bonded to a base metal (usually brass core), it is considerably thicker than gold plate and won't wear off with normal wear and tear meaning that it is a good substitute for solid gold (most people who can only wear gold can wear gold fill), it is often quoted as 14/20 meaning that at least one twentieth of the item is 14k gold. Ideal for jewellery and tiaras.
