Description

Learn how to cut and layer glass to achieve different effects. We will then fuse the glass using a microwave kiln. This resulting cabochon will be turned into a pendant or brooch to take home with you. You will then learn how to create a channel pendant and earrings to be fused in the shop’s kiln, which will be ready to be collected/posted out afterwards. Your experienced tutor will discuss the practicalities of setting up a glass studio at home as well as the advantages and disadvantages of a microwave kiln/electric kiln set up.

Suitability This workshop is suitable for beginners.
Techniques and skills Cutting and layering glass.

Additional Information

Please be aware there is an age restriction of 16 yrs. It’s also best not to wear your best clothes although aprons will be provided and a warm top is advised as we will need the windows open for ventilation. You will be able to buy a microwave kiln set to take away on the day to continue your glass adventure or why not make use of The Bead Shop's Kiln for just £7.50 per firing, pop into our Bead Group from 5pm Monday evenings (excluding Bank Holidays) or other times by appointment only.


All materials are provided and you get to take home the jewellery you make (you will have to leave the resin to set before collecting). There will be fairtrade refreshments and you will also receive a 10% off voucher for purchases you make in the shop (exclusions apply, please see main workshop page for more details).
