Basic Jewellery Making for Beginners

Cost: £45
Time: 6 Hours (we break for 1 hour lunch break. Lunch is not provided, but do feel free to bring along a packed lunch or take advantage of the many cafes and shops close by).
Description: This workshop is the perfect introduction to everything you need to know to start jewellery making, from the tools you need to different findings and beads. 

Earrings –
 learn how to create the all important loop and wrapped loop while making simple earrings. 

Necklaces – You will make two different necklaces. First learn how to use beading wire to make a spaced beaded necklace. Then learn how to finish the ends and add a clasp to waxed cotton cord. We'll also talk about how to plan a design from scratch. 

Bracelets – We will introduce you bead weaving, creating a simple but effective right angle weave bracelet. To finish we will make a classic beaded elastic bracelet.

There will be the opportunity to ask plenty of questions throughout the workshop and you'll be provided with handouts which work as a great reminder as to what's covered in the workshop.
Difficulty Level: 1 - This workshop is aimed at complete beginners, it's also perfect for someone looking to brush up on thier skills. 
Techniques and skills: Wirework - loops, finishing off jewellery - attaching clasps & crimping, designing, bead weaving. 
Materials used:  Silver plated plated wire and findings, Czech glass seed beads and mixed beads.
Additional items needed: Just yourself.

All materials are provided and you get to take home the jewellery you make. There will be fairtrade refreshments and you will also receive a 10% off voucher for purchases you make in the shop (exclusions apply, please see main workshop page for more details). 

Children 10 and over are welcome to do this workshop but we do recommend them being accompanied by an adult, any question please feel free to contact us.
