Description

Miyuki Delica beads are precision made, cylinder shaped beads. This allows them to fit together perfectly when woven, making them ideal for beadweaving. There are approx. 1000 beads per 5g. When strung on a single strand, 5g of beads are approxiamately 1.2 metres in length. These delicas measure approx. 1.5mm in Diameter and 1.0mm in length. When beadweaving you need to use a strong, thin thread such as Miyuki beading thread, Wildfire or Fireline.

The size 11 delica bead is the most popular size delica used. This is probably because of the huge range of colours and effects available. The hole is approximately 0.80 – 0.85mm. A generous sized hole for passing thread through several times.

When comparing Miyuki Delica beads with seed beads the first thing to note is their shape. Delicas are cylindrical and seed beads are more of a donut shape, much rounder. Both are suitable for all types of beading and beadweaving. The second thing you will notice is that when weaving delicas together there are no gaps between the beads. When weaving seed beads together the rounded shape of the bead leaves small gaps between the beads.
