Getting started with Brick Stitch

Hexagon Brick Stitch Charms

If you’re unfamiliar with brick stitch this is a great starting point, showing you how to get started, increase, decrease and incorporate a small gap in a row, perfect for hanging your bead work.

Duo Flower Bezel

Duo Flower Bezel

This Duo flower bezel uses a stunning Swarovski Rivoli as it’s focal point so it’s another project perfect to use those sparkles while you still can. The bezel is created with Right Angle Weave and embellished with Peyote stitch and netting. It can be turned into a pendant or worn as a brooch.

Swarovski Drop Stone Bezel Pendant

We have decided to release some more of our projects that involve Swarovski to give you a chance to create them while all the items are still available. This beautiful drop pendant was a workshop designed to really frame the drop stone, if you’re going to make one of these lovely pendants I would choose your stone first then your beads.

Each pendant requires;

1 x 18x13mm 4320 SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS drop stone
1g x Size 11 Miyuki delica beads
0.5g x Size 8 Czech glass seed beads
1g x Size 11 Czech glass seed beads
1g x Size 15 Czech glass seed beads (size 13 should also work)

We have another free project for you. This was a fun workshop we ran a few years ago. It’s a daisy chain bracelet – with a difference. It uses 4mm Swarovski Xilion beads as the centre of the daisy which creates a great effect of the crystal beads being framed by seed beads. With the news about Swarovski it might just be the right time to buy your favourite colours and make a feature of them in this bracelet.

Each bracelet requires;

Approximately 24 – 36 x 4mm Swarovski Xilion beads
2 – 3g x Size 8 Czech glass seed beads

Here’s another free project we’ve released during Lockdown (take 2).

These windmill components be beaded independently and can be used to create earrings, pendants, necklace or bracelets. Or even sweet little festive decorations.

Floral Pinch bead project - The Bead Shop Nottingham

Floral Pinch beads

Here’s the first of our free projects released during Lockdown (take 2).

These floral beaded beads use a variation of right angle weave. The pinch beads slot together neatly to form a floral effect with a small seed bead forming the centre.

Beadweaving can be a difficult job if you are creating new patterns. If you have the time and patience, a computer and a printer then you can make your designing a little easier by drawing you own stitch grids. For those who wouldn’t want to do this, we have already done it for you! Below are PDF’s of the more popular stitch grids that should help you to design your beadweaving pattern.

This grid is A4, the actual squares measure 7mm x 7mm and there are 27 columns, 39 rows.

Brick Stitch Grid

This grid is A4, the ‘squares’ measure 3.5mm x 7mm and there are 61 squares across and 46 rows.

Peyote Stitch Grid

This grid is A4, the ‘squares’ measure 7mm x 3.5mm and there are 31 squares across and 157 rows down.
