This week I’ve been on work experience, and it’s been a great opportunity to learn more about the behind-the-scenes side of running a creative business.
I started the week by brainstorming ideas to improve our social media pages, including beginning to make a content calendar to help plan and schedule future posts. I also researched the different demographics across social media platforms to better understand what type of content works best for each audience.
Throughout the week, I took over our Instagram Stories, sharing a behind-the-scenes look at, organising, and decorating the workshop window. I started by moving the workshop examples so I could clean and decorate the window with bugs, leaves, and The Bead Shop logo. While everything was moved, I filmed and edited videos to promote our workshops and show what workshops we have to offer. I then reorganised the displays, tidying the space, and creating small signs to help customers discover other workshops they might like.
I’ve learned so much this week about managing social media for a business, creating engaging content, merchandising a creative space, and everything that goes on behind the scenes. It’s been a really rewarding experience, and I’m looking forward to learning even more and creating more content in the future!
