We're huge fans of bugle beads here. They're so versatile whether you're stringing them or using them in your beading.
We've used them in many projects over the years, so we thought we'd collate everything together into one bugle bead inspiration post!
I've always thought they look great used in Right Angle Weave designs, their long shape adds a wonderful extra diamention, just like our wavy ocean themed bracelet above.
The bugles, and in particular the longer ones lend themselves to statement earrings. Here I've threaded our lovely light turquoise bugle beads on to headpins with a size 11 seed bead and made a loop. This allowed me to cluster them together on jump rings in two tiers to create this tinsel style earring. Our Geometric Decorations patterns originally designed for use with glass tubes, are also great created in bugle beads. They can be scaled up and down. Here they look great in small bugles as earrings. The 12mm and 20mm would also work brilliantly as baubles.
It's not just 3D shapes that bugles create, they also make wonderful 2D bold shapes, this Edwardian style design is a workshop example that looked great is so many different colours. With a clasp created from bugle beads too.
Bugle beads aren't just great for jewellery making. You can used them as embellishments in embroidery or even us them in art work like Angela's minature vase of flowers.
