5mm Jump Ring Silver Plated

Our 5mm jump ring silver plated is one of the most versatile components that you can have in your jewellery kit.

Used commonly when hanging pendants from necklaces or charms from a bracelet. Jump rings are also used when connecting two findings together; e.g. necklace end and a clasp.  These components can be linked together to form a safety chain or an extension chain. The most important part in the creation of chainmaille jewellery.

The 5mm jump ring silver plated is made from 0.8mm wire. This information is useful for when you are calculating the aspect ratio for chainmaille jewellery. As the external diameter is 5mm and it’s made from 0.8mm wire the internal diameter is 3.4mm. Our jump rings are made from brass wire that has been silver plated. As brass is the core metal it makes these jump rings very strong when linked together in jewellery.

When opening and closing, it’s always best to twist, rather than pull apart, to keep the nice round shape in tact. We have a YouTube video that demonstrates how to open and close a jump ring without distorting the shape.
