Craft your own beaded Christmas decorations with this festive trio pattern. The 6 page tutorial includes comprehensive instructions to make a sparkling star, elegant snowflake and fun sprig of holly. The 3 designs were originally created using Swarovski crystal beads and Preciosa Czech glass seed beads. As many of you know Swarovski have since discontinued all their loose components. However we also know that many of you have stashed of Swarovski crystal beads so may well be able to continue with the designs are they were originally created. We have also included suitable substitutes for the designs.

The techniques used for the decorations build nicely in complexity starting with the star and snowflake which both use netting techniques. Then on to the holly combining right-angle weave with netting.

This festive decorations trio pattern is suitable for competent beginners and a great way to build on your beading techniques and gain confidence.

The instructions have clear written directions as well as step by step colour diagrams. These sparkling decorations will be a great addition to any tree this Christmas. They’ll also make perfect gifts or the ideal special touch to your gift wrapping.

Materials needed

Sparkling Star

15 x 4mm Swarovski OR Preciosa Crystal Xilion/Bicone beads (Light Sapphire AB2x  are used in the example)

Size 11 seed beads (galvanised silver are used in the example)

Beading needle & 1m beads thread (White Nymo used in the example)

Jump rings and ribbon to hang your decoration

Elegant Snowflake

1 x 6mm Swarovski or Preciosa Crystal pearl bead (white used in example)

18 x 4mm Swarovski Crystal rice pearl beads (similar beads can be substituted – white used in example)

Size 11 & size 8 seed beads (Galvanised silver used in the example)

Beading needle & 1.2m beading thread (White Nymo used in example)

Jump rings and ribbon to hang your decoration

Holly Sprig

3 x 6mm  Swarovski or Preciosa round Faceted beads or pearls (Siam classic bead used in example)

12 x 4mm green Swarovski or Preciosa crystal Xilion/bicone beads (Fern Green used in example)

8 x 5mm green Swarovski or Preciosa crystal Xilion/bicone beads

Size 11 seed beads (silver lined green used in example)

1.5m Clear 0.25mm nylon thread (Supplemax used in example)

Jump rings and ribbon to hang your decoration

 

Other items you may find useful but are not included in the kit are; Bead Mat & Scissors. You’ll also need the use of chain or flat nose pliers to attach the jump rings. You may also find this video useful for opening and closing your jump rings.
