Description
French Wire Silver Plated is an extremely useful component as it prevents the thread fraying around the clasp.
To use French wire or ‘gimp’, you place a small length of the French wire over the thread of your piece of jewellery before you attach the clasp. You first have to ensure that the thread will go through the French wire and that the French wire will then thread through the hole of the clasp.
Each pack contains approx. 1 metre of French wire. The internal diameter of this French wire is 0.7mm. This means the thickest thread you can sensibly use is 0.6mm. French wire is popular with knotted pearl necklaces.
