0.4mm (26 gauge) Half Hard Sterling Silver Wire

Description

Our 0.4mm Sterling silver Half Hard wire is ideal for wire wrapping and tiara making. The advantage to using sterling silver wire is the cleaning, there is no plating that can be rubbed off with silver cleaners, just sterling silver leaving you with renewed shiny silver! It’s a softer wire than the copper core plated wire we stock but still stiff enough to hold its shape.

Heating the wire (called annealing) will change the wire to dead soft, making it easier to use for wrapping and decoration. Hammering & bending the wire will work harden it, making it harder and better for keeping its shape under its own weight.

Use plated wire to practice with before using this sterling wire to avoid waste.

Sterling Silver is priced by weight so the length of wire on each spool will differ.

This spool weighs 1 ounce and the 26 gauge has approximately 23 metres. If 23 metres is too longer for you then it is possible to buy it in 1 metre lengths.
