0.8mm Brass Wire

Description

0.8mm brass wire is a sturdy craft wire which is easily manipulated with using your fingers. We would always recommend that you use nylon jawed pliers to save your fingers! Nylon jawed pliers are invaluable when working with wire. Use the nylon jawed pliers to harden the wire and to easily shape the wire without marking it.

0.8mm brass wire is especially good to use when making statement pendants. Used to create the shape before decorating with a thinner 0.6mm or 0.4mm brass wire.

Brass wire is made up of 70% Copper and 30% Zinc. As this brass wire has a high copper content it is considered to be a soft wire although your fingers may not agree! There is no plating but it will still tarnish over some time as all wire does. The tarnishing is easy to clean if you wish but the tarnish will give a patina finish, which is popular for steampunk jewellery. The brass wire has a soft golden finish and gives your projects a golden look.

0.8mm silver plated wire is equivalent to 20 gauge wire and comes on a 6 metre spool.

1.0mm wire is 18 gauge wire.
1.2mm wire is 16 gauge wire.
1.5mm wire is 15 gauge wire.
