Believe it or not, our Christmas Czech glass mix is popular ALL year round. It is often used in our introduction to jewellery making workshop, to create earrings and bracelets. Collectively all the beads make a lovely festive mix with greens, reds, golds, creamy pearls and silver shades. When you pick out the individual beads there’s a fantastic array of far less festive beads too. All are perfect for making Christmas Jewellery and decorations.

So I decided to see what I could make from a 250g bag of our Christmas mix, just to show how versatile is it and to showcase some of the wonderful beads. At the same time providing some festive inspiration. You could sit down on a wintery weekend afternoon and make a whole range of jewellery perfect for gifting, as well as treating yourself.
Glass mixes in general are great fun. Endless entertainment can be provided by picking out the different shapes or colours. It’s good fun to do with kids too. This fun collection would be great to get the kids crafting or to make as fun stocking fillers.
I love how being presented with a range of different beads gives me a little challenge and encourages a bit more creativity. I often have a look at the different shapes and see if there’s lots that match or, colours and shapes that go well together. They can often provide an inspiring starting point.
In the bag of Christmas mix I noticed there were quite a few white flower drops and leaves. So I decided to make a matching pair of earrings and a long lariat style necklace to match. This set would look fantastic over a red Jumper this Christmas. Then when the spring comes wear them with a lovely purple jumper and it becomes jewellery set for multiple seasons.
These earrings and necklace were created using our very handy bell flower earrings video;
Simple link bracelets look very elegant and provide a great way of spreading out your beads, you can alternate the beads, use matching beads or create an irregular pattern using lots of different beads for unique bracelets. You can use this same technique to make necklaces too adding chain at the back for a longer design.
You can use the beads to make fun decorations too, or handy wine glass charms. I threaded these drops on to ring sized memory wire. Perfect to help keep track of whose glass is whose this Christmas. They’re also the perfect way to use any single unusual beads from the mix. That way you can make sure all those charms are identifiable (especially after a few drinks)!
For me earrings will always be a winner. They’re great fun to put together, matching up beads. Or finding the perfect colour for your friend, or matching your favourite winter jumper. This collection of beads have some fantastic combinations;
I barely made a dent on the 250g bag, so you can imagine how many more items you could make. And there’s the satisfaction of being able to gift or wear your handmade creations. I hope our blog post provides you with lots of inspiration for making Christmas Jewellery and decorations.
