Part Time Sales Assistant
We are looking for an enthusiastic creative individual to join our team as a sales assistant.
Requirements
Essential Skills
- GCSE’s grade 4 (C) or above in Maths and English Language (or equivalent).
- Working in a creative shop it is essential to have enthusiasm and a keenness to learn.
- Previous retail experience.
- Must be confident working with computers. Must be competent and confident checking spelling, grammar and punctuation with good attention to detail.
Desirable Skills
- An interest in jewellery making or craft (training in specific jewellery making skills will be given).
- Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential as training will also be given.
- Social media marketing
In house training is available in jewellery making to build confidence and skill level. Further training will be available in Social Media marketing.
Job Role
Sales Assistant – working within our busy city center shop, wholesale and mail order departments to serve and advise customers.
To carry out general day to day tasks including cleaning, tiding, sorting, packaging and stocking products, inventory control, cash handling as well as window displays, social media and jewellery making.
Barista duties including making and serving a variety of different coffee’s, teas and cakes.
There will also be the opportunity to assist in workshops.
Person Specification
We need someone who is confident communicating with customers and colleagues. A great level of patience and eagerness to learn is required in this role. A keen interest in jewellery making and crafts is really useful. We are located in a 5 story listed Victorian building that can’t have a lift so expect to spend a lot of time on your feet.
The role is varied; no two days are the same so we’re looking from someone who can thrive in an often busy environment. Working in a small team for a small independent shop is quite a different experience to other shops. We are a small team and rely upon each other to support and help each other in the day to day running of all aspect of the business.
Salary & hours
We’re looking to fill a part time position of 7.75 hours on Saturday and potential extra hours during the week. We do require everyone to be flexible to cover holiday and illness if necessary. Please specify on your application form what hours and days you are avilable.
Salary is minimum wage (variable depending on age).
