Earrings for pierced ears

The most popular component used for making earrings is the fishhook, named due to it's shaped but also known as the shephard's crook. These are for pierced ears and more often than not they are held in the ear by placing a butterfly back or 'scroll' that pushed on to the earring wire at the back of the ear. You aren't restricted to just using fishhooks as you can use lever backs, which are more secure and kidney wires, again named due to their shape!
