PLEASE NOTE THE MATERIALS FOR THIS WORKSHOP ARE NOT INCLUDED, THEY CAN BE BOUGHT SEPARATELY, see details below.
The Beaded Carrier Beads virtual workshop will run on Saturday 4th July 2020 starting at 10.30am and running for approximately 1 – 1.5 hrs.
In this workshop you will learn how to create beaded covers for glass carrier beads. Using even count peyote stitch and a variety of pattern designs. The beaded carrier beads are then perfect for creating your own bracelet or necklace. This is an ideal workshop for beginners and an innovative way of wearing your bead work.
For this virtual workshop you will need to gather the following materials (these are not included in the cost of the workshop);
Approx. 5-10g (dependant how many you’d like to make) Miyuki Delica beads (size 11), we’d recommend one of our Delica bead mixes as there’s at least 4 different colours in each one and will provide enough variety for your designs, or why not add a contrast colour to open up even more options (opaque black or galvanised silver for example).
Carrier beads (a pack of 15 would plenty to start with) as you are covering the beads the clear matte glass ones are a great neutral base colour, or if you prefer a darker base try a metallic blue or black.
Beading thread, Nymo works well for this.
Beading needle size 10 or 12 would be ideal.
Threading your finished beads to make jewellery may require extra materials if you do not already have them. For example you may want to thread you carrier beads on elastic to make a bracelet.
What else might I need?
There are a couple of items that are really useful, but not essential and some of you might already have them.
A beading mat – very useful for stopping all your beads from rolling away.
How will it work?
Buy the virtual workshop and we will email you a link to join the class via Zoom, the day before along with instructions.
What if I miss the beginning, or can’t make the time after I’ve bought the kit?
If you have missed the beginning you will still be able to join in, but unfortunately we’ll not be able to start again from the beginning. If you’ve missed more that the first 15 minutes or so, you might find it easier to wait until you can access the video after the live session has finished.
How long will the workshop be?
We will anticipate the workshop will be approximately 1 and a half hours (including introductions and questions at the end). Steph, our tutor will be available for longer and will stay connected with anyone who has further questions or needs extra help (after all , everyone will have different levels of experience and works at a different pace, which is absolutely fine).
Do I need special software or equipment to view the tutorial?
You will need to use a device that has a forward facing camera, not all PC’s or laptops have this, however most tablets, pads and phones do. We will be using a service called Zoom, so that you can interact with Steph and ask questions.
