PLEASE NOTE THE MATERIALS FOR THIS WORKSHOP ARE NOT INCLUDED, THEY CAN BE BOUGHT SEPARATELY, see details below.
Learn how to make needle felted beads on Saturday 4th July 2020 in this virtual workshop starting at 2pm and running for approximately 1 – 1.5 hrs.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to make needle felted beads using merino roving and then how to add surface decoration in the form of spots, stripes and shapes in contracting colours.
Please note this workshop requires the use of sharp barbed needles so it is not suitable for children.
For this virtual workshop you will need to gather the following materials (these are not included in the cost of the workshop – however a kit is also available);
At least 2 colours of contrasting merino roving
1 x 36 gauge felting needle
1 x 38 gauge star felting needle (these are useful as they’re good for adding fine detail) but you can also work with just a standard 36 gauge needle.
You WILL need a suitable surface to work on (the needle often goes all the way through your work) we use upholstery foam with a thick piece of card between the foam and table. You could use an old folded towel.
Our needle felt rainbow kit would be a great way of buying all the materials needed and gives you 7 bright colours to work with.
What else might I need?
Useful but not essential, are 2 thimbles to protect your thumb and index finger from the sharp needles.
How will it work?
Buy the virtual workshop and we will email you a link to join the class via Zoom, the day before along with instructions.
What if I miss the beginning, or can’t make the time after I’ve bought the kit?
If you have missed the beginning you will still be able to join in, but unfortunately we’ll not be able to start again from the beginning. If you’ve missed more that the first 15 minutes or so, you might find it easier to wait until you can access the video after the live session has finished.
How long will the workshop be?
We will anticipate the workshop will be approximately 1 and a half hours (including introductions and questions at the end). Steph, our tutor will be available for longer and will stay connected with anyone who has further questions or needs extra help (after all , everyone will have different levels of experience and works at a different pace, which is absolutely fine).
Do I need special software or equipment to view the tutorial?
You will need to use a device that has a forward facing camera, not all PC’s or laptops have this, however most tablets, pads and phones do. We will be using a service called Zoom, so that you can interact with Steph and ask questions.
